Congrats Stefanie for winning my Giveaway! I’ll be sending out her package on Monday…with the granola, Kimberly Snyder Detox book (I got it today!), Dandy Blend, and the Vega Shake ‘n Go. Sun Butter is donating their organic sun butter, so they’ll send it to Stefanie directly.
If you’re disappointed that you didn’t win, stay tuned! Next week, I’ll have another giveaway of an exciting treat from a local company (Ithaca, NY). You should also check my facebook page once in a while—I did a spontaneous granola giveaway yesterday that only required a quick comment to enter!
Remember my last hormone post that talked about the link between good sleep and your metabolism? I have another post started about stress and metabolism that I’m just putting the final touches on. Look for it on Saturday!
Last night, I wanted to use the rest of my aloe…

…and I’m so glad I decided to get a little creative.
Aloe + 8 ounces of Unsweetened Almond Milk + Orange Extract + Stevia
Aloe blended with liquid creates FROTH! So aloe blended with milk creates creamy froth! It also more than doubled the unblended quantity, and there’s a slightly fizzy feel to it as well. I felt like I was drinking an Orange Creamsicle. Yes, I was totally happy about that!

I’m currently watching a Documentary on Netflix called Food Matters. Have you seen it? I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it. I’m debating whether to show it in my nutrition course. I love how it talks about vitamin supplements and the issues with not using food/nutrients as medicine to heal.
“Good health makes a lot of sense, but it doesn’t make a lot of dollars.”
I also just ordered this: Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead.
It’s screening in select cities (not mine), so I ordered the DVD and am really looking forward to seeing it! Check out the trailer. Here’s what it’s about:
“100 pounds overweight, loaded up on steroids and suffering from a debilitating autoimmune disease, Joe Cross is at the end of his rope and the end of his hope. In the mirror he saw a 310lb man whose gut was bigger than a beach ball and a path laid out before him that wouldn’t end well— with one foot already in the grave, the other wasn’t far behind. FAT, SICK & NEARLY DEAD is an inspiring film that chronicles Joe’s personal mission to regain his health.
With doctors and conventional medicines unable to help long- term, Joe turns to the only option left, the body’s ability to heal itself. He trades in the junk food and hits the road with juicer and generator in tow, vowing only to drink fresh fruit and vegetable juice for the next 60 days. Across 3,000 miles Joe has one goal in mind: To get off his pills and achieve a balanced lifestyle.”

Related to this, is the Reboot Your Life Program. Check it out—anyone want to try it with me? I’m planning to start a week from Sunday (I like to give myself a week to ease into things like this). It’s basically a produce cleanse, and there are three variations to choose from. The Classic is: “This program consists of 5 days of eating, blending and juicing only whole fruits and vegetables; followed by 5 days of just juicing; followed by 5 days of eating, blending and juicing whole fruits and vegetables. Think 5-5-5.”
I’ll be doing the Reboot starting next Sunday, and would love some company!
Have you seen Food Matters? Do you take supplements or use food as medicine? If you do or if you don’t, either way I think you’ll find this documentary interesting!
A quote from the movie: “Two handfuls of cashews give you the therapeutic equivalent of a prescription dose of prozac” …but people are worried about the fat in cashews.
