You Win Some!

Yesterday I hosted a Healthy Fall Recipe Contest with the employees of my favorite wellness coaching corporate client (I can call them that—they’re my only corporate client right now, and they’d probably be my favorite anyway).  We had two winners: Taster’s Choice (Laura’s Spaghetti Squash with Fresh Tomatoes, Basil, and Parmesan) and Healthiest Recipe (Shirley’s Thai Pasta Salad).

Last summer we did a similar challenge, and the winners were a black bean mango salsa and a watermelon salad (Chuck and Petra, respectively). I enjoy this contest because it gives us an “event” where we can hang out for a bit and be social.  I don’t get to do that very often—I get to talk to everyone individually all the time, which is great too. It also gives people who don’t usually participate or seek out my services a different way to be involved.  It’s fun to try new recipes too!

Some of yesterday’s highlights (sorry about the phone pics—I forgot my camera):

Ants on a Log (with almond butter, and variety of ant species)
Black Bean Brownies!
Thai Pasta Salad
Applesauce Bran Muffins
Pumpkin Granola
Petra calls this PROGGYTZ. It helps her remember all the ingredients when she goes to the grocery store. Peppers, Raisins, Onion, Garlic, Yams, Tomatoes, Zucchini! YUMMMMM!
Quinoa Mango Muffins - I didn't get to try these, but I heard they were fab!
Tabouli

Also, last night, Petra and I put on an Ultimate Smoothies Workshop with her Irish Dance friends plus a husband and a couple kids (and one really cute baby!). Hopefully there will be pictures to share of that event soon–I thought it was a big success–people tried new things, learned some useful nutrition information, and got to hang out with their friends for a couple hours. Really, why would anyone not want to do that? (Note: I can’t always come to terms with the idea that some people don’t care about learning about wellness)

What new thing will you try this week?

  2. I collected the recipes (some paper copies, some electronically), so I'm going to get them all in one format (online) and then distribute. I'll include you…
